Clarke:
Today we took a taxi
to St. Andrew’s Cathedral. We bought some more matrushka dolls and 2 dresses
for Natalie. We had lunch at the same restaurant underground mall “Sunshine”
café. The same girl helped us two weeks ago waits us on. They have lots their
English menu, but our Laura Lisle (Kris’s cousin)look alike is happy to help us
order.
Cold or hot, Natalie can enjoy cabbage either way. All of the people
here seem worried that we want to consume milk cold. They think it will make us
sick. One time I had to insist with Georgiy that worm milk is only for babies!
Edible...isn't she? |
Don't mess with my borcht! |
Natalie went right to sleep for her nap today. She is snuggling with her new
cloth traditional Ukrainian dol.
Hopefully, Kris won’t wake her as she acts
like a kid setting up all her new matrushka dolls. She just set her prize set
with 15 hand painted dolls.
Tomorrow we will visit NAC to show off Natalie, and
inquire about another orphan, Lena, who is from Sumy. We will also be able to
find our about availability on Thursday’s flight to DIA.
We feel like we are
getting close to the end, but know we have nearly a week left even if all goes
perfect.
We know it’s hard on the kids at home now, but hopefully they will
soon be able to “appreciate” it really really much~! (Georgiy uses the word
“appreciate” all the time!)
Good grief....yes there are 15 dolls in this set...wow! |
Kris:
We slept in until
8:30, showered and went to grab some groceries at the market for
breakfast. We went to the Internet café
to try to send our email message and it finally went through! We took a taxi
down to the craft market by Saint Andrew’s Cathedral. We bought more Matrushka
dolls, soft dolls and a couple of Ukrainian outfits for Natalie to wear. We
walked through the underground mall and ate lunch at the “Dream Café”. We took
the metro to the hotel. Natalie laid down for a nap, no problem today! No
tears; what a sweetheart!
